I would like to congratulate the Friends of Radipole Park Gardens and Weymouth Town Council on achieving the first stage of their plans for Radipole Park, which have just received the go-ahead from Dorset Council. The scheme will be a significant asset for local people throughout the year, as well as an added attraction for visitors.
This is will be a significant gain for the town. A major part of the scheme is to drain the the play area to provide usable play facilities for youngsters and to improve the sports facilities for older users. Initial funding has been won from the Lottery heritage fund, but the hard work to gain the rest of the proposed £1million plus grant from LHF remains to be done.
The Friends of Radipole Park Gardens deserve our wholehearted support for their efforts so far and their plans for the future.
