I AM trying to be as constructive as possible in the face of appalling indifference by the Dorchester Mayor and town council over the most serious issue of air pollution.

How can councillors lay back and say Dorchester residents should wait and hope that car usage will drop in the future!

Where is the initiative? Where is the concern for children walking to school (when schools reopen)?

In your columns, I offered two simple solutions to the crisis over air pollution. Apparently they have been ignored - but worse, no alternative suggestion has emerged from the lethargic town council.

There is only a short time to take action before roads fill up with traffic both private cars and larger vehicles.

The town council must realise that this town will not return to the status quo ante before lockdown: traffic may well increase, with greater

online shopping etc..

I implore Dorchester Town Council to urgently get working on air pollution and save lives.
