I wrote to my local MP, Richard Drax, (Conservative, Dorset South) about Dominic Cummings’ trip to Durham.
He replied that, in his view, Mr Cummings did not break the law - and that he, Mr Drax, would have behaved in a similar way if he thought it necessary.
His actual words were:
In all this, I ask myself what I would do in similar circumstances. The answer is that I’d do whatever it took to ensure the wellbeing and safety of my family. The answer is subjective, with each one of us acting as we deem appropriate.
So lockdown was variable, according to the subjective whim of each individual. It’s a good explanation of how the Cummings affair has been interpreted by government.
I just wish I’d known at the time…
