A MAN was stopped by police after behind being the wheel of a BMW and was allegedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine.

Police are investigating the stop and search after allegedly finding class A drugs in the car on Tuesday afternoon in Coronation Road, Gillingham.

Officers stopped the the driver of the grey BMW after receiving community intelligence.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "At around 2.15pm on Tuesday 8 June 2021 an officer carried out a stop check of a grey BMW in Coronation Road in Gillingham.

"A search of the vehicle was carried out and a small quantity of suspected class A drugs was located and seized.

"Acting on community intelligence, patrols led to stop check and positive search for crack cocaine.

"The driver of the BMW, a local man aged in his 50s, is assisting police with their enquiries into the matter.

"We can confirm it was suspected to be crack cocaine but the substance will now be analysed for confirmation.

"No arrests have been made."
