TICKETS are now on sale for a special Festival of Remembrance show returning to Dorset, after it was cancelled last year.

The Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance show will be taking place at Weymouth Pavilion on October 21 at 6.30pm.

It is the festival's fifth anniversary and will also be taking place on the Royal British Legion's (RBL) centenary year - after it had to be cancelled last year due to Covid.

Acts performing for the show will include Dorset Rock Choir, HMS Heron Royal Navy Band, Let's Dance, Dorset for Singing, Weymouth Concert Brass, The Decadettes, Weymouth School of Ballet and Weymouth Sea Cadets.

Organiser of the show, Anna-Maria Geare, said: "We are hoping there will be no restrictions by then, but are trying to organise things in a way that we will be prepared if things do change by that time.

"We are now in the fifth year of doing this show and it just gets better and better every year.

"We are very excited and very grateful to the Pavilion and the artists who are willing to come back and put on a fantastic performance. We are also grateful to local people in Dorset who will come and support it as the Legion celebrates it's 100th anniversary - we want this to be the best show yet."

The show is also currently looking to get more sponsors to help with the running costs of the event so more of the money from ticket sales can go towards the Legion.

Tickets are available to purchase through Weymouth Pavilion Box Office by calling 01305 783 225 now and will be available to purchase on the Pavilion's website soon.

The RBL is active across the county with approximately 8,400 Legion members and 30 local branches, which are supported by 15 RBL Clubs.

The charity was formed in the aftermath of the First World War to fight for the rights of those who had given so much and come back to so little. Today, the RBL continues to provide life-changing help and support to the Armed Forces community and challenge injustices on their behalf.

We at the Dorset Echo are appealing to our readers to donate to the RBL by visiting dorsetecho.co.uk/RBL or sending a cheque payable to Dorset Echo in an envelope clearly marked ‘RBL donation’ and mailing it to Dorset Echo, Fleet House, Hampshire Road, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 9XD.
