A MAN was arrested on suspicion of assault, making threats to kill and affray after allegedly assaulting two people.
Dorset Police was called to a house on Howard Close, Weymouth, at 7.35am after receiving a report of a disturbance.
Police officers, including armed officers and dogs, surrounded the property following reports that a man assaulted two people. He then locked himself in the house and was reportedly armed with a knife and a hammer.
The man has now been arrested on suspicion of assault, making threats to kill and affray.
A spokesman for Dorset Police: "Dorset Police received a report at 7.35am of a disturbance on Howard Close in Weymouth.
"Two people were reportedly assaulted by a man. They did not sustain any serious injuries.
"It was reported that the man – who was in possession of a knife and hammer – was inside a property. There was nobody else inside the address.
"Officers attended the scene and engaged with the man to resolve the incident safely.
"At around 10.45am the man was arrested on suspicion of assault, making threats to kill and affray and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
"The arrested man and the victims are known to each other."
