A NEW fast-food pizzeria is finally set to open in Weymouth today after being delayed for several weeks.

As previously reported, Sbarro is an American pizzeria chain that specialises in New York-style pizza and other Italian-American cuisine.

Opening at Link Park site opposite Aldi in Chickerell, Sbarro has moved into a unit along with Burger King.

The store was originally scheduled to open on Friday, April 30, but the opening was delayed multiple times. Dorset Echo understands this is due to training and staff issues, but Sbarro is now able to open.

It is understood the store will open at 11am on Wednesday (August 11) and hungry customers will be able to buy individual slices of New York-style pizza with a drink or order a whole pizza to takeaway.

Customers can buy a 12-inch pizza from £9.95 onwards or a 17-inch pizza from as low as £12.95.

The branch also offers strombolis, a turnover filled with various cheeses, meat and vegetables, as well as snacks, breadsticks, cookies and soft drinks.

Inside the new branch, numerous pizzas and snacks will be on display and customers can pick what they wish to order from its menus.

The branch has already had a trial event, where shoppers at the nearby Aldi were invited to sample their new pizzas and snacks on offer on Monday (August 9).

A store spokesman said they were empty of sample food within 20 minutes.

The new Sbarro, among the first in the South West, previously said the branch would create 30 to 35 jobs in the area.
