FORMER Moto GP star Bradley Smith will team up with Dorset giants Spirit Moto Corsa in a wildcard appearance at Snetterton.

English rider Smith, 30, raced in the world’s premier motorcycling class across eight seasons and collected two podiums in 119 starts.

He will race alongside Spirit’s full-time riders Mason Law and Jamie Perrin in the GP2 Championship – the tier below British Superbikes – on Friday, September 3 to Sunday, September 5.

Smith’s link-up with Shaftesbury team Spirit comes as part of an extension to his Project 109 team, currently racing in the Spanish Superbike Championship.

For 2022, Smith is targeting a tilt at the European Moto2 Championship in which his team will ride the brand-new Spirit SP3 machine.

Last season, Spirit’s Law won the drivers’ championship in the GP2 Cup, including a win at Snetterton.
