DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera admitted the Southern League Premier South table “tells the story” of a frustrating start to the Magpies’ campaign.

Herrera’s men have been beaten four times in five games – all by a single goal.

Beaconsfield and Salisbury snatched wins from what looked certain draws in stoppage-time at the Avenue Stadium.

Tom Purrington missed a penalty in injury-time at Taunton to deprive the Magpies of a point, while Poole Town beat Dorchester 1-0 on Bank Holiday Monday.

Dorchester have played eye-catching football for the majority of the season but a ruthless streak up front has been lacking, with their sole win coming in a 3-1 win at Hendon.

Dorchester are placed in 20th of the 22 teams after five games.

When put to him that Dorchester’s start to the season does not feel like an 80 per cent loss rate, Herrera told Echosport: “No, it doesn’t but the table tells the story.

“Whether it’s individual errors you can’t legislate for – most of the goals have been – or late goals, whether it’s lack of concentration, I don’t know.

“We can’t quite put our finger on it but we haven’t been outplayed by anybody, certainly.

“As I said to the players, there’s nothing to fear in this league. I’m sure that once we get another win under our belts we’ll hit a bit of form.”

Dorchester take a break from league action on Saturday, with the visit of Yate Town to the Avenue in the FA Cup first qualifying round (3pm).

Winners of the tie pocket £2,250, the losers earning £750.
