WAREHAM RANGERS 2

BALTI SPORTS 6

BALTI Sports scored three late goals to notch a 6-2 victory at Wareham Rangers in the Jewson Dorset Premier League.

After a difficult start to the campaign, Balti are now undefeated in three games following last week’s impressive 1-1 draw at Westland Sports.

While injury and unavailability remains a hindrance to Balti, boss Marco Nott will be pleased at how his side overcame adversity again in this fixture.

Wareham tested Balti’s resolve in the fourth minute when Adam Green’s fine 20-yard effort flew into the top corner.

Balti were level rapidly when Rangers’ keeper Mike Davies dropped a cross, allowing Liam Taylor to ripple the empty net.

Danny Andrews quickly made it 2-1 when he buried a delightful side-foot volley from Phil Anderson’s flick on.

Crucially, Balti grabbed a third on the cusp of half-time when Matt Chambers raced through one-on-one before lobbing Davies with an impudent finish.

Wareham revived their hopes of taking points from the game when Owen Coulter-Thomas tapped home a bobbling ball in the area.

Wareham pressured Balti with set-pieces until the 75th minute when Andrews beat the offside trap, rounded Davies and bagged his brace.

At 4-2, Balti made easy work of finishing Wareham off as Che Curran hooked in at the back post.

There was still time for Josh Houghton to score his first goal of the season, slotting underneath Davies having been sent clean through.

Nott told Echosport: “They would probably say six was a bit flattering but there was no doubt who the winner was.

“But we took our chances, which was good. We’ve been guilty of not taking them in recent weeks. It was just whatever we hit, went in.

“We did have a couple of chances where we missed but it was pleasing to see quite a few different goalscorers.

“They’ll probably be aggrieved that it was six but I don’t think they could argue about the result.”

Nott added: “We only had 11 players and I was kitted out on the bench just incase.

“I think we counted 12 players missing, which is just ridiculous. That needs addressing, quick.

“It’s quite deflating when you’re constantly chasing players and players let you down.

“Hopefully we can get a few back but I’ve been saying this all season.”
