PORTLAND TOWN 4

UPWEY & BROADWEY 2

PORTLAND Town celebrated a 4-2 win over near neighbours Upwey & Broadwey in Dorset League Division One.

Jack Brown had been brought back into the Upwey line up as they bolstered their front line and it was he who fired the zebra-kitted visitors in front.

As the half wore on the hosts exerted more pressure on Harry Reynolds’ goal, Gary Harvey probing away as the midfield of George Christopher, Rob Townley and Kyle Critchell foraged for opportunity.

Christopher’s wand-like set-piece was met by two blue and yellow heads before Harvey stole in to rise quickest to prod home from two yards.

This was the trigger for the rest of the half and the game as Town dominated. On the stroke of half-time the second came, Harvey looping a lovely pass over the back line for Callum Allison.

In a race between against the keeper, the forward won and finished with a trademark chip for 2-1.

Upwey delivered a sucker punch on 52 minutes when a pass that dissected the back line fed Ash Hine who toe-poked past a prone Chris Theakstone.

Christopher then whipped a stellar free-kick over the wall for 3-2 before a second deflected strike sent Reynolds the wrong way for 4-2.

Town: Theakstone, Paul (Owens), Pettitt, Attree, Rogers, Critchell, Christopher, Townley (Paice), Allison (Taylor), Sonner, Harvey (Clifford).
