Dance classes aiming to improve the wellbeing of people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) will be held at Dorchester Corn Exchange.
The Elevate programme, which is the first of its kind in the UK, was developed in partnership with MS specialists, University of Florida, Georgetown University, MS Society Scotland and MS Revive.
People living with MS are invited to come and enjoy dance, no experience required.
These fun classes are a chance for them to explore their creativity, expression, musicality, fluidity, balance and posture.
Highly experienced dance tutors will provide support and those taking part are welcome to bring a friend, partner or carer to join in too. Participants can take part seated or standing.
Elevate is a Scottish Ballet initiative. It is an evidence-based class designed for those living with MS and their support network.
An Elevate class could be classed as a dance class, a movement class, an exercise class, moving meditation, stretching, strength work.
Because Elevate has been developed with healthcare professionals and researchers the content of the class ensures that a mind and body living with MS gets the workout it needs in a way that doesn't result in fatigue and burn out.
The first six sessions from Wednesday, November 9 to Wednesday, December 14 are free.
They will take place from 6pm to 7.45pm (people are invited to arrive from 5.45pm). It costs £4 per session and is free for carers.
Sessions will also be held in Sherborne. For more information contact Jess Beale by emailing engage@dorchesterarts.org.uk
