Another yellow weather warning has been issued for much of Dorset.

The Met Office has issued the rain warning for tomorrow which could continue to impact homes and businesses after heavy rain earlier in the week.

The warning will be in place from midnight until 7pm on Thursday, December 7 and includes most of the west and north of the county, although, Weymouth and Portland are not included in the warning.

The Met Office says there will be a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

A spokesperson said: "Rain is expected to arrive during Wednesday evening and then turn persistent and heavier overnight and into Thursday.

"Before the rain eases and clears during Thursday afternoon, 20-40 mm of rain is likely to fall widely with peaks of 50-80 mm over hills.

"The rain will be accompanied by strong south to south easterly winds."

They are also advising that people check whether their properties could be at risk of flooding, and if so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.

Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. To avoid delays people have been urged to check check road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables ahead of setting off.

Heavy rain has already impacted much of the county, with road closures near Dorchester currently in operation because of flood water after the River Frome burst its bank.

On Monday, December 4 much of Bridport was under water with the Groves Nursery and Garden Centre on West Bay Road and Bridport Football Club's pitch completely submerged under several feet of water.

Flooding had also caused the A35 between Bridport and Dorchester to close as well as the Jurassic Coast Road at Burton Bradstock.

When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.
