POLICE are hunting a robber who assaulted a woman, stole her phone and purse and spent money on her bank cards.

Officers have been searching for a suspect in Sherborne today.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "It is reported that the victim – a woman in her 30s – was assaulted, sustaining injuries to her chest and legs.

"Her phone and purse were taken, which contained cash as well as bank cards which were later used to make fraudulent transactions.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made."

Police were searching for a suspect in Sherborne today.

Police cars were seen on blue lights through the town, whilst the NPAS helicopter circled the area of Kit Hill at around 1pm.

The robbery took place on Turing Close in Sherborne at around 6.50pm on Thursday, April 11, but police have today released the information.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers were carrying out arrest enquiries at around 11.20am on Monday, May 13, in relation to a report of a robbery in Sherborne at around 6.50pm on Thursday, April 11.

"Searches are being carried out in the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
