A cruise ship carrying nearly 3,000 passengers made its maiden call to Portland this morning.
Mein Schiff 2 arrived in Portland today as part of a round-Britain cruise from Hamburg.
The 16-deck cruise ship docked at Portland Port at 6.12am on Sunday, June 14, assisted by pilot tug Silverwell.
It is carrying 2,894 passengers and arrived after leaving Liverpool on June 12 and spending yesterday at sea.
The call forms part of a 12-day “Best of Great Britain and Ireland” voyage which began in Hamburg and has already taken in ports including Invergordon, Kirkwall, Greenock, Belfast and Liverpool, with the ship due to continue on to Southampton before returning to Germany.
This is the first ever visit to Portland for Mein Schiff 2, although sister ships Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff 4 have previously called at the Dorset port. The vessel was built in 2019, has 19 decks and is operated by TUI Cruises GmbH. She was christened by German singer Carolin Niemczyk.
