AN inquest has opened into the death of an 18-year-old man from Poole, just days after three people were charged with murder.

On Wednesday, June 24, an inquest was opened at Dorset Coroner's Court following the death of Kyeron Wheeler.

The court heard Mr Wheeler died on Friday, June 19 after being admitted to Poole Hospital with 'an injury'.

It was previously reported that police were called to Longfleet Road in Poole at around 2.13am that day, after reports of a man with injuries outside the hospital.

It was added that detectives believe Mr Wheeler was injured during an incident in Dale Close in Poole and was then transported to Longfleet Road by car where he was left by Poole Hospital.

Following his death, flowers and tributes were left outside the hospital, with many writing of their heartbreak and upset.

Det supt Neil Third of the Major Crime Investigation Team said: "This has been a complex and fast-moving investigation as we have worked diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"Our thoughts remain very much with the family and loved ones of Kyeron Wheeler, and we have continued to keep the family updated with developments in the investigation.

"This matter will now be the subject of active court proceedings and it is vital that the criminal justice process is allowed to follow its course without prejudice.

"It would therefore be inappropriate for us to comment any further on the circumstances surrounding this incident at this time and we would urge members of the public to refrain from speculation and sharing of information online or on social media."

On Monday, June 23, the three men charged with murder appeared in court.

Callum Roberts, 22, from Blandford, Dluwadamilare Aremu, 22, from Bletchley and Trevor Gonzo, 22, from London all appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

No plea was entered from the men and the case was sent to Winchester Crown Court.

The inquest, which was opened by Brendan Allen, area coroner for Dorset, heard Mr Wheeler was born on January 8, 2008, in Poole.

Coroner's officer, Philipa Morgan, added that, at the time of his death, Mr Wheeler was residing at an address in Fernside Road in Poole.

It was revealed that a post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr Jenkins at Holly Tree Lodge on June 20.

Mr Wheeler's provisional cause of death was listed by Dr Jenkins as a stab wound to the right thigh.

As there are ongoing court proceedings, Mr Allen has suspended the coronial investigation- with a provisional pre-inquest review being set for early next year.

As they have to wait for the court proceedings, it is unclear when exactly the inquest will be resumed and heard in full at this time.
