DORSET has welcomed another huge cruise ship.

Norwegian Sky arrived at Portland just before 10am this morning with more than 2,000 passengers on board. It is on a 10-day trip around Britain and Ireland and will depart Portland later this evening.

Some passengers will choose to head into Weymouth and Portland while others may select an excursion.

The visitor was assisted into the port by pilot tug Silverwell.

The ship, which travelled overnight from Ringsaskiddy, near Cork, in Ireland is on its first visit to Portland.

It was built in 1999 and has 12 decks, and is operated by Norwegian Cruise Line.
