A new educational partnership is set to create fresh opportunities for students and staff across Dorset.

Bryanston School and Ferndown Upper School have announced a formal collaboration aimed at broadening pupil experiences, supporting professional development for staff, and raising educational standards across the region.

A central part of the partnership will be the launch of the Ferndown/Bryanston Scholarship Programme, which will offer boarding school scholarships to Ferndown Upper pupils who show outstanding potential.

The scholarships will recognise talent in academics and other key areas, including the arts, sport, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation.

Liz Thornton, Deputy Head, Staff & Partnerships at Bryanston, said: "We are delighted to be establishing this partnership with Ferndown Upper which will offer many opportunities for young people while enabling staff across both schools to learn from one another.

"There is a great deal of expertise within our two communities, and by bringing that together we can create something that greatly benefits pupils and staff."

The collaboration will also include joint educational visits, shared events, and external speakers, as well as greater coordination on university and career planning.

Philip Jones, head of Ferndown Upper School, said: "Both Ferndown Upper School and Bryanston School share values of community, belonging and aspiration.

"This partnership provides an exciting opportunity for our pupils and staff to benefit from a genuinely collaborative relationship with Bryanston that aligns with our shared values and principles."

Bryanston will also participate in the Dorset Maintained Schools Group, supporting joint professional development and the sharing of best practice.
