Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward after three people were seriously injured in a crash near Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 12.13pm on Sunday of a two-vehicle collision on the A354 Weymouth Relief Road, on the southbound carriageway near to the Upwey slip road. The vehicles involved were a black Volkswagen Polo and a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
A six-hour road closure was put in place as the emergency services - including the air ambulance - attended and remained in place as an examination of the scene was conducted and the road was cleared.
One patient was flown to Southmead Hospital in Bristol whilst two others were taken via road to Dorset County Hospital.
Police Constable Chandler Organ, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, I appreciate this collision resulted in the closure of a major road for a period of time and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as we responded to the incident.”
