BRENDON King is hoping his side can carry on their superb run when they host Brockenhurst in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

The Blues are on an eight-match unbeaten run in the league, which has helped them climb to second in the table with 32 points, eight points behind leaders Sholing.

King said: “It is just about trying to keep this little run that we have got going now and seeing how far it can take us.

“We need to make sure our application and desire is there.

“I think the league this season is definitely a lot stronger.

“Brockenhurst have got some players that can really hurt you, especially going forward. They have got some good players, again it is going to be another tough one. They seem to be coming thick and fast at the minute.”

The Badgers are part of a condensed mid-table, in 11th place with 19 points from 15 games but King is wary of their threat.

King said: “I think it is important when you play against a side that is mid-table, they are very dangerous for a number of reasons. One is that sides like that can go on a little run themselves and pick up a couple of wins and they are not going to be that far away.

“They are really dangerous, so it really important that we carry on doing what has got us into this position now.”

“At the end of the day we are in November and leagues are not won or lost then, so we are not looking at that. We just want to put ourselves in a good position and get into good habits and winning is a good habit.”

Darren Watts and Ryan McKechnie should be back for the Blues but Max Buckler will be suspended for picking up five yellows, while Ed Bastick and Shaun Bessant are out injured.
