DORCHESTER Seconds narrowed the gap at the top of the County Division Three table to just three points with a 79-run victory over Sherborne Seconds.

The county town side, featuring the likes of first-team batsman Jim Ryall, set a solid target of 223, which the visitors did not come close to matching, handing the home side a valuable 20-point victory, with top of the table Dorset Tigers losing.

Elsewhere, Portland Red Triangle Seconds were beaten on the road, losing by 31 runs at Poole Town Thirds in County Division Five.

As a result, they remain in mid-table, 26 points behind the league leaders Poole.

Weymouth Seconds tasted defeat in County Division Six, which came at home in a three-wicket loss to Poole Town Fourths, with their target of 129 ably chased down by the visitors.

Despite the defeat, Weymouth remain at the top of the table, 27 points up on Puddletown Seconds.
