PORTLAND United saw their pre-season friendly at Wimborne Town abandoned.

Wimborne player Keaton Wood went down after an aerial collision and suffered a serious knee injury.

Portland, who play two divisions below Wimborne, showed application and desire in the first half, keeping a strong Magpies side to 0-0.

That was until Regan Mason broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, shortly before the injury incident.

Blues’ boss Franklyn Clark told Echosport: “We wish him a speedy recovery, the best thing was to abandon the game because none of the lads want to carry on when something like that happens.

“I was really proud of our lads. Keeping Wimborne to 0-0 at half-time, our lads can take a lot from that.
