WEYMOUTH have announced a promising new sponsorship deal with bathroom, heating and plumbing specialists Plumbstop.

As part of the link-up, Plumbstop’s logo will be splashed across the Terras’ fresh white away strip.

Weymouth’s latest away kit also features vertical claret and blue painted lines, complete with claret shorts, socks and club crest.

The deal follows that of sleep experts Dormeo, sponsors of the Terras’ home shirts.

Weymouth’s non-executive director Mark Palmer was a key figure in the Plumbstop partnership.

He told Echosport: “It’s all part of the strategy that we set out at the start of this pre-season – to get some really good partners in.

“It’s getting the right partners that can grow with the club. The exciting thing for me is Plumbstop is a really good regional brand that we want to form a relationship with.

“It looks fantastic on the shirt but we also want to do a lot more in terms of our activation for them across the season to matchday involvement and stadium branding.

“We can really work with them and support the local depot.”

Plumbstop have three Dorset branches, including Weymouth, in the South West and regional manager Tony Matthews is enthused by the partnership.

He said: “Plumbstop’s been in the town for five years, roughly, and we never really got involved with any sort of local sponsorship.

“We’ve done things around the country but for us, getting connected with the local football club is really good.

“We’ve chatted to Mark about their future plans and we want to be part of that going forward.

“It’s a great opportunity to get exposure ourselves, grow with the club and, long-term, be in the Football League, which would be great.

“Hopefully we’re going to come to some games and be match sponsors.

“It would be good to get some away games in as well.”

Plumbstop sales manager Andy Wellsbury said: “It’s maximising the opportunity for everyone involved.

“We want to grow the business in and around Weymouth. We want to follow Weymouth into the Football League and who knows where we can end up.

“As soon as (the shirt) came through, it looked fantastic. It stands out perfectly, the colouring, everything.”

Weymouth Plumbstop branch manager Andy Staple added: “I think it’s a massive opportunity for all involved.

“We’ll proudly put that shirt up in our branch and shout it from the rooftops that we’ve got this partnership.

“It’s a positive move for us and the football club.”

Assistant manager Dan Boot said: “It’s going to be good going forward for the branch and the customers. The future’s bright.”

Weymouth begin their Vanarama National League season at home to Boreham Wood on Saturday (3pm).
