WEYMOUTH have reportedly captured the loan signing of Carlisle United forward Manasse Mampala.

Mampala, 21, has scored one goal in 15 first-team appearances for Blues this season.

And Carlisle are keen for the striker, who can also play on either flank, to get more game time.

Congolese marksman Mampala's chances of game time appear limited at United, with the Cumbrians signing three strikers on transfer deadline day.

Mampala, who in 2018 inked a professional contract with Everton, is set to become the second signing of the David Oldfield era after Aaron Drewe.

Mampala could feature in tonight's Vanarama National League clash at arch-rivals Yeovil Town (7.45pm).

Speaking to Carlisle's official YouTube channel, Blues boss Keith Millen confirmed Mampala is on his way to the Terras.

He said: "The main thing with Mannie since he's been here is that he's not played enough first-team games.

"He's a young lad that needs to go and learn how to play week-in, week-out and show people what he can do.

"It's not fair if he's not getting any game time. If he's not even on the bench, then it's tough.

"It's tough for players to train Monday to Friday and not have any reward at the end of it."

Millen added: "It's about him and his career at a young age. He's just not had enough first-team games yet.

"It's not so much the level, it's more about him playing consistently, getting confidence and belief in what he's about and hopefully score some goals."

Mampala provides competition for strikers Josh McQuoid, Ben Thomson, Brandon Goodship and Jordan Greenidge, plus injured forwards Martell Taylor-Crossdale and Brad Ash.
