DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Brian Churchill spoke of the importance of claiming a positive result at fellow strugglers Hartley Wintney tomorrow (3pm).

Going into the game, the Row are in 18th, three points and one place ahead of the Magpies, who have taken just two Pitching In Southern League Premier South away wins in 15 games this season.

With the two teams directly above the relegation precipice, Churchill underlined the necessity of at least maintaining the five-point gap to Kings Langley in the bottom three.

He told Echosport: “It just seems every week there’s more emphasis on each game. It’s massive for us (tomorrow).

“It’s important we come away with some sort of result just to keep that gap between us and Kings Langley.

“Glenn (Howes, boss) is trying to instil a style of play he wants and it is difficult when you’re losing games to keep doing what we’re doing.

“Everyone associated with the club wants to see results but the bigger picture is we’re embedding a style of play into the players that we think will change results in the long term.

“We need to take the positives from the Tiverton game, we finished with five under-23s playing and six of the team were under 19 on Saturday.

“In some respects it felt like a defeat conceding late on, but we’ll try and get something (tomorrow).”

The Magpies will not appeal Tom Purrington’s red card picked up against Tivvy, meaning the midfielder will tomorrow serve the first match of a three-game ban.

Churchill said: “We’ve seen the video and we’ve had some advice from powers that be. They’ve looked at it and there’s nothing clear and obvious to say it could be rescinded.

“They thought our appeal wouldn’t be looked on favourably. We’re just going to have to take that one on the chin and lose Tom for three games.

“The other thing with an appeal is that, if you lose, it could turn into five (games).”

Tiago Sa (ankle) and Thiago Caze da Silva (knee) join Purrington in missing out, but Charlie Gunson and Charlie Madden could return alongside Ash Wells, who is available after suspension.
