THE VETERANS’ HUB 28

NEW Body Fitness claimed a 38-28 victory over The Veterans’ Hub in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

The first five minutes saw end-to-end action with goals following each other.

By the end of the first quarter, New Body had started to break away with fantastic shooting from GS Ellen McDonald.

The second quarter again started intensely, with both teams jostling for space in the goal circles. New Body started to edge away again and the gap on the scoreboard widened.

New Body GA Kate Nichols made some skilled movements in the circle to create space.

Veterans made some tactical changes at half-time, which provided fresh legs going into the third quarter.

Fast play from their GD Laura Osborne helped them turn over balls but New Body kept pushing and managed to keep their lead.

The final quarter started at speed, with both teams gunning for the win. Veterans shooting was very accurate and they started to close the gap.

New Body ultimately dominated play throughout and took the win.

TEAM WAIKIKI 36

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 26

TEAM Waikiki defeated First Fit Windows 36-26 in their Division One encounter to earn a fifth win of the season.

Play was even at the start of this game, however Waikiki started to pull ahead with strong defence and good communication.

Waikiki continued to keep up the pressure to increase their score in the second quarter.

Although First Fit’s shooters were kept busy and made them work for their goals.

In the third quarter, First Fit’s defence worked hard to try and keep Waikiki’s shooters out. Waikiki still continued to pull away with good shooting despite First Fit pulling some goals back.

Both teams came out strong in the last quarter. Waikiki’s GS Emily Peacock barely missed a shot, while First Fit C Hayley Stanton was quick around court and made good interceptions.

Despite a great effort from First Fit to pull the score back in the final quarter, Waikiki took the win.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 28

WJNC WILDCATS 44

WJNC Wildcats sped to a 44-28 victory over Warmer Home Improvements B in Division Two.

Wildcats got off to a flying start, controlling possession through court while their GS Sophie Abberley made some important shots.

Warmer then started to get into the game, and capitalised on some errors from Wildcats.

Warmer’s midcourt worked hard to keep possession and convert it into goals but Wildcats kept the pressure on them. Warmer GK Amy Mowland sent some great long passes forward for her attackers.

After a much closer second quarter, Wildcats led by just three at half-time.

Wildcats made some important tactical changes for the third quarter, bringing Maraia Ratulauau on at GS, who provided a reliable option in the shooting circle.

Warmer kept the intensity high and continued to go for goals, which kept their spirits up as Wildcats continued to put pressure on them.

Despite a balanced final quarter, Wildcats strong start and impressive intercepts saw them take a solid win.

SANDSFOOT SIRENS 26

WJNC WARRIORS 42

WJNC Warriors made good on a fast start to pick up a 42-26 triumph over Sandsfoot Sirens in Division Two.

Warriors were quick off the mark in the first quarter and took an early lead, thanks to accurate shooting from their GS Georgia Pearson and GA Erin Cutler.

Sandsfoot made a few changes at quarter-time, including bringing Caroline McKay on at WA, who helped them get the ball into the circle.

However, Warriors fast pace made it difficult for Sandsfoot to keep up with them, and they took a healthy lead into half-time.

The third quarter was much more even, with several Sandsfoot players stepping up and offering encouragement and support to each other, leading to an exceptional display in the final quarter.

Warriors early lead and consistently clean play was too much for Sandsfoot to overcome and Warriors took another strong win.
