DORCHESTER Town will look to break their Beaconsfield Town duck when the Magpies travel to the Rams in their fourth Pitching In Southern League Premier South game of the season tomorrow (3pm).

Since Beaconsfield came into Dorchester’s league in the 2018/19 campaign, the Magpies have failed to win at Holloways Park in three attempts – taking a draw among two losses.

Beaconsfield have only tasted defeat once against the Magpies in six matches, winning each of the last three.

However, both teams have started 2022/23 well with two wins from three games.

But first-team boss Brian Churchill revealed the Magpies are on red alert for an extremely difficult game, singling out Minhas brothers Aaron and Nathan as major threats.

Churchill told Echosport: “Really tough, they’ve had a really good start and it’ll be a really difficult game at their place, even on a 3G, a surface we play on week in, week out.

“They’re really good at home, so it’ll be a stern test for us and we’ll try to counter their attacking play.

“They’ve got two brothers that are probably on par with the best in the league up top.

“We had a real tough game up there last season. I know we’ve got different personnel but it’s going to be one of our sterner tests this season.

“No game’s going to be easy but Beaconsfield away is not one of those trips we look forward to.”

Magpies’ assistant James Wood added: “Very technical side, they play their pitch exceptionally well and are a real attacking threat. Their results prove that.”

Churchill also spoke of the confidence boost generated by two wins in three games.

He said: “Six points from nine against three points from nine, just gives such a better look.

“The game we lost was full of incident, so we wrote that off. The guys have stepped up to the plate really well. Dorchester’s not that easy a place to come to any more.”

Wood added: “(Tuesday) was a fantastic atmosphere generated by the fans as well. All the boys were talking about it.

“They’re really playing their part, the crowd. It was an unbelievable atmosphere.”

Brad Snelling (head) is the Magpies only injury absentee and is expected to be out for three weeks, while fellow keeper Harry Dillon (groin) is back in contention to face the Rams.
