DORCHESTER Town are determined to kill a run of three straight losses when Tiverton Town visit the Avenue Stadium this evening (7.45pm).

Defeat to Hanwell on Saturday added to Pitching In Southern League Premier South and FA Cup losses to Swindon Supermarine.

The mini run of bad form has quelled what had been an impressive start to the campaign for Dorchester, who remain eighth with Tiverton in tenth.

And assistant-boss James Wood insisted the Magpies would be intent on avoiding defeat to nip their reversal of form in the bud.

He told Echosport: “We’ve talked about it most of the week. You can handle isolated defeats.

“What you can’t do is have a run of defeats. That’s three on the bounce now. First and foremost that needs to stop.

“Again, we look at where we are on our journey. If it was an isolated defeat with a couple of draws thrown in every five games, you’re OK with that.

“But we have to stop this run and nip this in the bud straight away. There will be a real emphasis on (tonight) to make sure we don’t get beat.”

Wood added: “I don’t think the game can come quick enough for us.

“The Tiverton games, there always seems to be a bit of spice there anyway. Tiverton are a very good side in their own right.

“It will be a very entertaining game, I’m sure, and a really good contest between two decent sides.

“We’ve been on the road for a couple of weeks now so getting back playing at home we’re really looking forward to.”

Shaq Gwengwe (swollen ankle) is in contention.
