WEYMOUTH assistant-boss Mike Percival spoke of the Terras’ satisfaction with all aspects of their 2-0 Dorset Senior Cup semi-final win over Dorchester Town.

Ahkeem Rose scored in each half, his second a stunning volley, to send the Magpies to defeat at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Weymouth’s reward is a final against holders Poole Town, who came back from 2-0 down to beat Shaftesbury 3-2.

But with victory secured and a clean sheet to boot, Percival was content with Weymouth’s work.

He told Echosport: “The league table doesn’t lie, they’re doing well in their league so we wanted to show them respect in terms of making sure we took the fixture seriously, playing a strong side.

“Everything was in preparation for Saturday. We knew first half especially they would want to have a go and scoring a relatively early goal helped with our momentum.

“Then, second half, we were pleased in terms of we controlled the game. They probably had one opportunity at the end which I would class as a half chance.

“Apart from that, we controlled possession, got into good areas and we were better in both boxes.

“We always looked like we were going to create something going forward and we were relatively comfortable in the defensive phase as well.

“We’re happy to be in the final.”

On Rose, who now has nine goals for the season, Percival said: “We knew all about Rosey before coming on board, we were excited to work with him.

“Prior to us getting here, he’d had his injuries but he’s come through them with flying colours.

“The gaffer (Bobby Wilkinson) tried something different with him because what he’d been doing in the past hasn’t worked.

“It’s worked and he looks sharp. Wherever we put him on the pitch, whether it’s off the flanks or down the middle, he’s offering us something.

“That’s all you can ask for from your front men. You want your front men to create chances for you, take chances and always be a threat.

“We always say make sure the opposing defenders come off knowing they were in a game, and that’s what Rosey’s doing to defences.”

Percival is also keen on the prospect of winning the cup, adding: “Silverware, regardless of what occasion it is, it’s always nice to play in a final.

“We’ll look forward to that but right now our focus turns to Chippenham away. Obviously, the league is our priority.

“Let’s try and do what we need to do in the league and then the cup final.”
