WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson has praised the club’s fans for sticking by the team during their rollercoaster Vanarama National League South season.

Weymouth are in danger of sustaining a double relegation following their drop from the National League in 2021/22.

Wilkinson’s men are currently 22nd in the table going into this afternoon’s home game with Dartford (3pm), still three points from safety.

Impressive 5-0 wins at Tonbridge and Concord this season backed up a sterling effort in the FA Cup first round where the Terras took League Two side AFC Wimbledon to a replay before losing 3-1.

However, a lack of consistency in league outings has put the Terras in danger of the drop, with Wilkinson noting his side’s fanbase as a major positive this season.

He told Echosport: “The fans have absolutely been brilliant since the day I came in, they can see what we’re trying to do.

“You’ll always have opinions in football and I’ve no problems with that.

“What’s so important is when you turn up on a Saturday afternoon and give them something to cheer for.

“The last game we have and hopefully we can keep that momentum going by putting the ball in the box and creating chances.”
