FORMER Weymouth and Dorchester Town winger Tom Blair has joined Vanarama National League side Dorking Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

Blair, 24, left Weymouth in the summer to join Havant & Waterlooville in the division below having scored six goals and recorded 17 assists in 76 games.

The Hawks have appointed Steve King as their new manager following a poor start to the season.

Three days after his arrival and Blair, with only eight Havant appearances, has been allowed to leave for Dorking, a side currently in 21st of the 24 teams at non-League’s top table.

Blair has previous experience in the National League with Eastleigh and Weymouth.

Speaking to Dorking’s media team, Blair said: “I'm really excited, Marc White has something great happening here, I really like the journey the club is going on and the only way is up.

“Obviously, we have an away game this weekend but I'm really looking forward to meeting the supporters properly at the first home game and making my mark on the team."

Wanderers’ chairman and manager White added: “Tom's a really exciting young prospect proven at the level; he turned down several offers in the summer to join Havant & Waterlooville.

“He's a really direct winger who can play left or right, brilliant end product, good height , I really feel Tom will fit into our style of play brilliantly.

“It's another signing for us in that recruitment range where we are looking to add younger players to our group."

Blair, who scored 30 goals in 153 appearances for home town club Dorchester, will wear the number 29 shirt at Meadowbank.
