WEYMOUTH end a tumultuous week with a visit to Dover Athletic in the Isuzu FA Trophy second round tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras were outraged by the behaviour of a minority of fans during and after the 1-1 draw with Farnborough on Saturday.

While the club’s chiefs investigate fully, the Terras have an important cup match on the horizon and sources at the Bob Lucas Stadium are understood to be glad of a return to football matters this weekend.

Weymouth have an excellent record at the Crabble Stadium in recent years, winning on their previous three visits.

And manager Bobby Wilkinson expects a retaliation to that statistic from the Whites, who are second bottom in the Vanarama National League South, some six places behind Weymouth.

He told Echosport: “Fond memories. We go there with lots of confidence, we’ve always done well there.

“It’s a club that we like to go to play in their back yard. You always want a draw where you have an opportunity to get through. This is an opportunity for us to get through and they will think the same.

“We know it’s always different because you never know what’s happened there in the last few weeks.

“I know they’re not on a great run of form and we’re only two beaten in 10.”

Dover are winless in nine games, since the 2-1 FA Cup win over Haringey, but only once in that stretch have the Whites lost by more than two goals – the 4-0 defeat by Farnborough.

“We’ve done the same thing actually,” Wilkinson said.

“Since we’ve beaten them, they’ve only been losing by the odd goal or two. They’ve got a lot more secure and solid.

“When you’re down the bottom you can play well but results don’t go your way. A prime example is we’ve played some good football and not got a result we deserved.

“So, it’s a 50/50 game and we’ve got a five-hour travel to go there. I like a good cup run in this one, I’ve done well in it in the past and I’d like to continue.”

Picking up on thoughts of a possible Dover backlash to Weymouth, Wilkinson added: “Oh, 100 per cent. They want revenge on us.

“We’ve gone there and beaten them comfortably and we do normally play really well there. They’d like to stop that because we meet them again next month at our place.

“We do believe it’s a revenge mission for them but we’ll go there and try and win like we do every single time.”

Wilkinson also confirmed there would be no fundamental changes to his side as they go all-out for victory.

“It will be a full-strength side like Saturday,” Wilkinson revealed.

“That squad was outstanding last Saturday. We’ve not really spoken about last week, which was an unbelievable performance against a team that had won six and drawn two at home.

“To go to a team near the play-offs, to go 1-0 up and then could have lost, we were really pleased with a great point.

“If we can just turn those fine margins into wins, we’d be right up there. So, a full-strength squad.”

Calvin Brooks (suspension) is Weymouth’s only absentee, with Anthony Cheshire expected to replace him.

Winners of the tie, which goes straight to penalties if level after 90 minutes, receive £3,750 and the losers pocket £1,000.
