WEYMOUTH have confirmed centre-back Joe Cook will return to Dorking Wanderers following the expiration of his loan deal this week.

Cook’s two-month stay was up for renewal but National League side Dorking have chosen to bolster their ranks with the in-form defender.

Cook impressed with his calmness in possession and towering presence at the back and formed part of a Weymouth defence that kept three consecutive clean sheets in January.

He played 10 times for the Terras, creating one assist and scored a memorable winning goal in the 1-0 victory at Dartford.

Weymouth boss Bobby Wilkinson told the club’s media team: “It was an absolute pleasure working with him, loved every minute of it and I wish him every bit of success on the rest of his journey and hopefully (we) will work together again one day.”

Cook’s departure leaves Weymouth with just three available defenders for the trip to Chelmsford on Saturday in Leo Hamblin, Harry Jones and Jordon Thompson.
