DREAMS could come true for Dorset & Wilts’ Under-20s team tomorrow as they set foot on the hallowed Twickenham turf for a national final this afternoon.

Only the East Midlands stand in the Twin Counties’ way as they bid for glory in the Jason Leonard County Under-20 Championship final (1pm).

Last season, Dorset & Wilts agonisingly missed out on a place at Twickenham after a 29-27 defeat in the semi-finals at the hands of Hampshire.

However, this season they exacted revenge over their near neighbours, winning 26-25 in a thriller to reach the final.

East Midlands, meanwhile, qualified after beating Cheshire 38-32, and the anticipation is high for a final laced with heavy scoring.

Dorchester will have plenty of representation on show with Dylan Walter and Sam Lambourn both selected in the squad.

Coaches Martin Oxland, Mark Adams, Martyn Peel and physio Nik Minter are also part of the Under-20s’ setup.

In a club statement on social media, Dorchester RFC said: “With the Jason Leonard County Championship National Final fast approaching, the whole of Dorchester Rugby Club wish the best of luck to Dylan Walters and Sam Lambourn who have both been selected in the squad for the County U20s side to face the East Midlands.

“The club also wishes to extend those best wishes to Director of Rugby Martin Oxland, Coach Mark Adams, former first team head coach Martyn Peel and Physio Nik Minter who have guided the U20s to this stage of the competition. Good luck all!”

Dorset & Wilts are hoping to go one better than the previous effort some 30 years ago, when they lost to Yorkshire in the final.
