DORCHESTER Town have been relegated from the Southern League Premier South following their 0-0 draw with Hungerford Town on Saturday.
The Magpies fate was sealed after failing to beat an already relegated Hungerford side at Bulpit Lane.
Wes Fogden's side needed to win their final two games and hope that the teams above them dropped points but with Weymouth, Taunton and Yate all winning, relegation was confirmed.
It now means the club have dropped to step 4 of the National League season for the first time in their history, a new low for the club.
Saturday's game saw few chances and it never looked like Dorchester would pick up the points required.
Hungerford's Joe Shepherd saw a header saved in the 20th minute by Gerard Benfield
First half chances fell to Charlie Woodinga nd Will Spetch but it was Wayne Robinson who came closest for the Magpies with his 26th minute effort bouncing back off the post.
After the break chances were few and far between for both sides with Wooding watching a shot deflect wide and Hungerford's Kyle Tooze firing wide into the stands.
Benfield was called upon again to keep Hungerford out with a good save from Josh Macron.
Dorchester's best chance of the half fell to George Chubinidze in the 77th minute but the midfielder fired over the bar.
Even if Dorchester had managed to score and take all three points it would have been in vain as wins for teams around them meant it was impossible to save their campaign.
The club have 40 points from their 41 games and lost 19, drawing 13 and winning just nine games.
The club will now begin preparations for life in Southern League Division One.
Part of that process will likely include finding a new manager with the future of interim boss Fogden unclear at this stage,
The veteran midfielder took the reigns after Tom Killick stepped away from the role in February.
Despite and encouraging run of form after he initially took over, which saw the club win four and draw one fo his first five games in charge, performances and results in more recent weeks have not been good enough.
Since that five match unbeaten run, the club failed to win any of their last 10 games, losing six and drawing four.
Dorchester have one final game left to play when they host playoff chasing Sholing at The Avenue on Saturday - a day which is set to be one of sadness after the club's relegation from the Southern League Premier South was confirmed.
