CURRY club at The William Henry in Weymouth proved a tasty treat. The first challenge at the popular Wetherspoon’s in Weymouth town centre is finding a table.

We visited The William Henry on a Thursday ready for the taste of India from an expansive curry menu.

It is hard to turn your nose up at such bargain prices, which include a drink, a curry with naan bread, a poppadom and mango chutney.

We ordered extra chips and received a tower of poppadoms for free as a gesture from a kindly staff member.

Between the four of us we ordered two traditional chicken Balti dishes and two orders of the lamb Rogan Josh.

The varied menu even gave us the option to pay only a little extra for a ‘curry feast’ including Bombay potatoes, vegetable samosa and an onion bhaji.

Our feast pleased everyone and we all agreed it was hard to find failings with good food and equally good prices.

My dining companion and I agreed that the chicken Balti was a success with a tasty sauce and large pieces of tender chicken marinated in tandoori spices.

One of our party said the off-the-bone lamb had been cooked perfectly and tasted delicious in a rich, medium sauce.

We were all really impressed with the efficiency and politeness of the staff, who really earn their crust. There is such a wide range of drinks on offer for curry night that everyone was satisfied.

It might not be the most exciting meal out but the atmosphere in ‘Spoons’ is certainly not lacking for a chain pub. Curry Club takes place every Thursday between noon and 10pm.
