ONE of the most iconic and recognisable bass players in modern music is coming to Dorset next month to play two of his band’s best-known albums in their entirety.

On September 7, the co-founder of Joy Division and New Order Peter Hook and his band The Light will be at the Electric palace in Bridport to play the ground-breaking albums Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies in full.

Having revisited Joy Division’s seminal album Unknown Pleasures back in May 2010 for a commemorative charity concert and following it each year with a new album performed live, including Closer and Still, Peter Hook And The Light will now perform New Order’s iconic albums from start to finish.

Movement was the debut album released by New Order after the death of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis.

The track listings includes Truth, Doubts Even Here and Dreams Never End.

Power, Corruption & Lies was New Order’s second album and was released in May 1983. Its songs include Your Silent Face, Ultraviolet and 5 8 6.

Electric Palace spokeswoman Delphine Jones said: “In January 2013, Peter Hook And The Light made their debut performances of New Order’s first two albums Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies with three sold out concerts in Cardiff, London and Manchester.

“Making the full album the hallmark of their live sets, these are performed in their entirety along with the singles, b–sides and rarities.

“We can’t wait to have the band at the Electric Palace.”

Reintroducing Hooky’s early repertoire to a host of new audiences across festivals and dates in the past three years, The Light have taken headline slots at Vintage, Benicassim, 1234, and other European and world festivals.

The band has also toured across the world to great success.

The Light’s line up consists of Peter Hook taking lead vocals and playing bass; his son Jack Bates also fills in on bass with Nat Wason on guitar, whilst the line up is completed by long time Hooky cohorts Andy Poole on keys and Paul Leadfoot Kehoe on drums.

The gig is for over-14s and is on September 7 from 7.30pm. It is an all-standing performance and tickets are £21 plus booking fee from Bridport TIC on 01308 424901 and £23 on the door.
