AN ANNUAL classical concert held in aid of The Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is returning to Weymouth College’s Bay Theatre on Thursday, November 6 at 7.30pm.

Magical Music will feature the Amabile Trio, with Weymouth’s Duncan Honeybourne on piano, Anna Downs playing the violin and Joanne Jefferies playing cello. Their programme will consist of chamber music including Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in D minor, violin and cello solos, and a Trio by the Birmingham composer Andrew Downes.

Freelance violinist Anna plays regularly with the English Symphony Orchestra and several other orchestras and has also founded the Central England Ensemble. Joanne Jefferies is the founder member of the VLO String Quartet and she plays regularly for the English Symphony Orchestra and the Croome Ensemble. She has also been a soloist with the Elgar Chorale in Worcester Cathedral and Malvern Priory. Event organiser Roy Burge said: “Duncan Honeybourne is very well known to us all in Weymouth where he started his career as a pianist and educator.

“He is highly qualified, and has won prizes at the Royal Academy of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire and enjoys a diverse career as a solo pianist and interpreter of 20th century piano music. He has played and given recitals at many venues across the world and has given premieres of new works dedicated to him by celebrated composers.”

The concert is at the Weymouth College Bay Theatre and parking and a bar are available.

Tickets are available from the theatre on 01305 2208702, from the Weldmar Fundraising Office on 01305 261800 or online or from Weymouth Pavilion. They cost £10 with concessions for senior citizens.
