THEY would walk 500 miles and then 500 more... just to get to Bridport.

Yes, The Proclaimers are hitting the Electric Palace on June 13 as part of their latest tour.

The hit-makers will be performing Sunshine on Leith, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), Letter from America, I'm on My Way, Life With You, Let’s Get Married and many more when they head to West Dorset.

Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have over the years enjoyed huge successes across the globe. In April they will be releasing their 10th album, produced by Dave Eringa, who has worked with Manic Street Preachers, Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey.

They have carved a niche for themselves where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide and in the process they have enjoyed gold and platinum singles and albums in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Following on from the theatre success of the musical drama featuring songs by The Proclaimers, Sunshine On Leith, the movie version was a popular release in 2013, spending a month in the top ten and generating over £4.8 million at the UK box office. This made it the fifth highest grossing independent release of the year.

Born in Leith in 1962, the brothers grew up in Edinburgh and Cornwall and formed The Proclaimers in 1983.

Their rise to fame came when a fan sent in their demo to the band The Housemartins, who promptly invited the band to join them on their tour.

They released their first album, This Is The Story, in 1987.

Broadchurch actor David Tennant said: “My favourite band of all time. They write the most spectacular songs, big hearted, uncynical passionate songs.”

The band teamed up with pop star Pixie Lott to sing I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) at the recent National Television Award to honour David Tennant with the Special Recognition Award.
