MUSICAL chameleon Miranda Sykes will be showing her changing colours when she teams up with Rex Preston and Grant Gordy for a performance in Osmington.

The trio will be at Osmington Village Hall near Weymouth on Saturday May 18.

Miranda, of folk group Show of Hands, has a wide and varied musical background and a rare ability to adapt to any genre without losing the warmth of tone that is her trademark.

She is well known as an unforgettable bass player - one of the few female bassists in the UK.

She has brilliantly enhanced the Show of Hands sound for more than nine years – a contribution acknowledged by the band winning Best Duo title at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Rex Preston has been dubbed 'the best mandolin player in the UK' and he played in the original line up of the acclaimed Celtic/bluegrass band The Scoville Units.

He co-produced their debut album, has featured in a Cara Dillon session for BBC Radio 2 and guested on The Ravishing Genius of Bones – the solo album from Ireland’s Brian Finnegan.

He is described by Show of Hands’ Phil Beer as “one of the new generation of brilliant virtuoso instrumentalists raising the bar. A tremendous player”.

For just a few dates in 2015, Miranda and Rex will be joined by internationally acclaimed American guitarist Grant Gordy.

Eileen Bramley said: "Osmington Village Hall is excited and delighted to welcome all three on Saturday May 18, when Miranda, Rex and Grant come together forming a trio to offer an evening of rare musicality."
