WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson has explained the decision to recall Joel Rollinson from his stint at Step 3 side Beaconsfield Town.

Rollinson has on dual-registration terms played a handful of games for the Rams, who compete in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South.

And Wilkinson revealed he brought Rollinson, an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Torquay, in to add an option on the wing.

It meant ex-Torquay winger Keelan O'Connell was dropped from the squad.

Wilkinson told Echosport: “If I needed to go to a four, with a bit of width, I needed that.

“We’ve gone five or six weeks very compact but when I need a bit of width, teams might work that out. So, here we are, the next phase.

“It’s just looking back, seeing what got us some really good points at the end of last year, freshening it up. Joel’s gone out and got five games, he’s back in now ready to play.

“That’s why I didn’t put Keels in the squad, he hasn’t played enough games.”
