WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson admits he must return to the drawing board due to the suspension of captain Tom Bearwish.

Bearwish received his 10th booking of the season in the 1-1 draw with Torquay United on Saturday and is set to miss games at Aveley and Truro next week.

With Olu Durojaiye currently out due to family reasons, Weymouth have a hole to fill in midfield. Only Charlie Rowan, Elliott Bolton or Harry Jones are available to them.

Asked if he would be forced back into the player market, Wilkinson told Echosport: “This is where it gets difficult with finances, because I can’t go and get a loanee.

“I have to actually sign someone, so I don’t think we will. That is the way it is. If one came alive and I have to leave someone out and be horrible again, I will.

“I’m not going to lie, I’ll be looking, but to lose your captain and go to another daunting ground that they’ve been excellent at this year, like I said to the boys: ‘Don’t fear it, let’s go to work’”.

Speaking to Weymouth’s media team on the subject, Wilkinson added: “Tom Bear’s suspended now, so I’ve got to get straight back to the drawing board.

“I’ve got to make sure we get ready. We might have to change system again, to adapt to that situation.

“To lose your captain’s going to be a big loss. We will move forward and I just need everyone to step up and train hard this week and get ready for another battle against one of the top boys again.”
