WEYMOUTH fans were treated to another evening among the stars of yesteryear as four new inductees were ushered into the Terras’ Hall of Fame.

Former player and manager Steve Claridge, centre-back Stephane Zubar, defender and captain Paul Arnold and ex-manager Stan Charlton were all welcomed into the Hall of Fame.

They join Tony Agana, Mark Robinson, Steve Tully, Frank O’Farrell, Ashley Wells, Sammy McGowan, Dudley Barry, Derek Courtney, Matthew Bound, John Clarke, Willie Gibson, Martyn Harrison, Tony Hobson, Ian Hutchinson, Aniello Iannone, David Laws, Bob Lucas, Jason Matthews, Graham Roberts, Phil Stocker, Stewart Yetton, John Waldock and Bryan Lawrence as hall of famers, an initiative first established in 2019.

Claridge earns his place having scored 96 goals in 239 appearances for the Terras as both a striker and while player-manager.

The current Fleetlands boss also counts Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Portsmouth and Millwall among his former employers.

Zubar, with 148 appearances, was a strong fans’ favourite and an integral cog in the Terras’ defence as he helped Weymouth to back-to-back promotions in 2018/19 and 2019/2020.

Arnold skippered Weymouth in 297 games during his nine seasons with the Terras, having made his name with Southampton Reserves.

He amassed a whopping 494 matches for Weymouth before leaving at the end of the 1987/88 campaign.

Charlton, a former Weymouth manager, was a true Terras all-rounder, undertaking secretary and groundman roles in his seven seasons.

The former Arsenal full-back passed away in 2012 but was represented by daughter Karen Goldingay and two of Charlton’s sons for their father’s induction.
