WE ARE expanding once again! We have been asked if we would be prepared to take on the task of advertising events for the Frampton area and have agreed to do so. This is such an active village with plenty going on throughout the year, so do use this opportunity to have your events made known to readers of the Dorset Echo. If you have an event that you would like us to include, please contact us on 01300 320433 or by email on longs@dynamicduo.co.uk .

A MEETING of the Frome Valley Parish Council was held in the Savill Hall, Cattistock on Monday, October 6. DURING the democratic period, the chairman of Maiden Newton and Cattistock Football Club addressed the meeting and gave details of a project to install shower facilities within the present changing rooms. The Club was asking if the Parish Council would be able to assist this project financially. After discussion it was unanimously agreed to support this project fully, as the Club is a valuable facility within the village. It was agreed to obtain a breakdown of the costs involved in order to consider the Parish Council ‘s contribution and also to confirm to them that, should money from Section 106 in respect of the development in South Drive be available, the Parish Council would recommend that the Football Club be among the beneficiaries. A MEMBER of the public asked if the Parish Council could contact the Highways Authority regarding the surface of the road in Duck Street. Each time the road is re-surfaced it gets higher; the surface water is now in danger of running into properties. It is recommended that at least 4” be planed off. POST OFFICE Closure: A draft letter is in hand to Postwatch, should Cattistock come on to the list for closure if a Post Office is saved elsewhere. The sub-committee is ongoing in ways/ideas to encourage people to use the village shop, thus making the whole business more viable.

WE ARE still in the Fiji Islands and keeping very busy, but we shall be heading for home next week and are looking forward to catching up with all our friends in Dorset. Unfortunately, we have had a problem with one of our consignments of goods not arriving in time for us to distribute, as it has been held up in Auckland. This means that those items will have to be stored here until we can deal with them on our return in February

WE ARE still very busy in Fiji, carrying out charity work across the islands. Last week we were helping out at the hospital on the island of Taveuni and visiting schools on Ovalau and Moturiki Islands. Earlier this week we were on the island of Beqa to deliver much needed basic resources to schools. Then our presence was requested at the official opening of our recent sanitation and fresh water project in Rakiraki on the main island of Viti Levu - lots of ceremony, garlanding, speeches and a huge feast of fish! Nevertheless, we have not forgotten the people of Dorset and are continuing to keep you informed of events in our area.
